Community and Family Support

Supporting Aboriginal children, young people and families

Warlga Ngurra provides culturally safe, strengths-based and family-focused support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Women, children, young people and families.

Our CAFS program provides a range of supports designed to strengthen families, build individual capacity, promote wellbeing and help children and young people reach their goals.

We recognise the importance of culture, family and community in the wellbeing of Aboriginal children, young people and families. Our team works alongside families in a respectful, culturally safe and trauma-informed way, building on their existing strengths and connections.

Our CAFS Support

Youth Individualised Support

Our Youth Individualised Support provides flexible, one-on-one support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people.
Support is tailored to each young person’s individual needs, interests and goals and may include:

We work with young people to identify their strengths and goals and support them to build the skills, confidence and connections they need to move forward.

Parenting Programs

Our Parenting Programs provide culturally safe support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander parents and carers.
Programs are designed to strengthen parenting confidence, family relationships and children’s wellbeing. Depending on the program and individual needs, support may include:

Our parenting support recognises that families bring their own knowledge, strengths and experiences. We work with parents and carers, not simply for them, to develop practical strategies that work for their family.

Family Support

CAFS can also provide support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families experiencing challenges that may affect their wellbeing, relationships or ability to thrive.
Support may include:

Culture is at the heart of our support

As an Aboriginal Organisation, Warlga Ngurra understands the importance of culture, identity, family and community to the wellbeing of Aboriginal children, young people and families.

Our programs are delivered in a way that respects each person’s culture, experiences, strengths and choices. We aim to create safe and supportive spaces where children, young people and families can build confidence, strengthen connections and achieve their goals.
